I would love to think we could do something this summer. Any chance Ol' Grizz might want to save his plane tickets for a trip back to the Midwest in late June or early July? I'm sure I could find a place for us to backpack. It would be a unique trip. I might be able to find a few to join us - take a short trek with kids (including Jackson)?
Ron and Jackson are planning to be out this way around late June anyway. Whadda ya say Grizz? I could look into the Porcupine Mountains or something around Sleeping Bear Dunes?

Whoops - maybe plans will need to change before even getting started. Ron and Michele are expecting baby #2 in mid July.... He is still planning to take Jackson to MINN to see his grandma in late June. The kids and I will try to road trip out there to meet up - wanna join us Grizz? You can fly into Grand Rapids or Chicago and road trip with us up to MINN and maybe stay at our house a while too?

ReplyDeleteJackson and I are tentatively planning to be in Grand Rapids around the 20th of June, but it might be earlier. We will need to be in Big Falls, MN by the 26th.
ReplyDeleteI would love to spend a couple days in the big G.R. and then head out to do some camping and hiking with the kids and Grizz if he can make it.
I not sure what our options are, but I read a cool article in Backpacker (thanks again Grizz) about an island in Lake Superior with a ton of Caribou. I'll look into it more, but anything outdoorsy would be great.
Also, we would love for you to come out to Minnesota with us. I know I thought it was pretty cool when I got to walk across the Mississippi River (it begins somewhere in the middle of the state). Voyager National Park is pretty cool too. Do some canoeing! I am sure we can get some canes from my uncle.

ReplyDeleteCome on out to GR as early as you can. I won't be working - lots of time at the yacht club and playing with the kids! Don't want to have to rush the yacht clut!
I read the island thing in Backpacker, too. Pretty neat. Sounds extreme with kids - including cold. How about we do a bit less extreme somewhere up in the Upper Peninsula. I'm sure I can figure out a good camping spot with day hiking or an overnight hike.
We would love to come to Minnesota. Where will you be staying? And canoeing down the river there would be great. That was a lot of fun before. My kids would like it a lot.
We would definitely want to be home by July 4th, but that shouldn't be a problem.
